How do you tell the difference between a 500gb & a 1tb console?

1. I've been looking to get a console for a while and there's heaps of second hand ads online but if they advertise it as 1tb and I go and inspect it how do I know it is actually 1tb without turning it on? Is there something I can look at without turning the console on that will immediately tell me what size HDD is in it?

1. First, it isn't recommended that you purchase from someone that you can't even trust a description of the product.

   There is on some models (starting with 1215) where the 500GB ends in A and the 1Tb ends in B (in other words CUH-1215A or CUH-1215B). That is the only thing I can find that it mentions if you don't have the box it came in or if you are buying used.

   Only buy from someone that you can be confident in the description, it isn't worth a few dollars to take a chance at getting something that isn't what you want. Good luck.

1. If you are buying used direct from the previous owner, the easiest way into know is to turn it on. Before you buy it, go into the settings menu, system settings, and there should be an option that shows how large the hard drive is as well as the remaining space. System storage, I think. As for purchasing from any reputable dealer, the hard drive space should be clearly stated on the box when you buy it whether the console is new or used, but you can confirm the size using the method described above.

3. To add to the other answer, since hard drives are replaceable you can never be 100% sure what's in the PS4 without turning it on.

4. At 1TB, you're getting double the storage as opposed to the 500GB. Since 1TB is 1000 gigabytes, it's twice as much as the 500GB. The 1TB will give you more space to store apps, movies, saved game data, games, whatever you decide.

   Vai depende da sua necessidade se você não necessita de tanto espaço compre um de 500GB que devera ser mais barato.
   Agora se você necessita de mais espaço compra um de 1TB apesar de que seria difícil usar ele todo, mas porem quanto maior o espaço eu acredito que os arquivos vão ser copiados mais rápidos para um de 1TB do que um de 500GB.

6. Se puder pegar o de 1TB melhor ainda.Hoje em dia com banda larga voce enche um HD de 500GB rapidinho.

7. Em uma situação parecida com a sua acabei optando por um de 1TB, exatamente pelo que disse o HFDAngelo. E lembrando o que o aureoh disse acima, capacidade de backup nunca é demais.

   Considerando que o preço do HD de q TB está baixo, menos de R$ 200,00 Reais vale a pena pelo custo. Da minha parte é uma questão de hábito, eu não loto HD. Sempre que há uma quantidade de dados suficiente para gravar um DVD eu limpo os dados do HD. Não confio em HD como mídia para armazenar dados, pelo menos não sem backup.
